Why Kids Love Jollibee

July 26, 2011 By: Erlainecomment

When I was a kid (1980s), I was only aware of McDonald’s since every Sunday after mass, my parents would bring me and my sister to McDo Alabang Town Center to play. I really enjoyed going into the tunnel and riding on the mini merry-go-round where you’ll be sitting on Ronald’s friends. I miss those days and also my childhood friends from Ligaya (a Catholic Charismatic Community where my parents belong for so many years now) who were our playmates.

I can’t remember playing in a Jollibee play area. When did this smiling bee got famous? Based from Jollibee’s site, the well-loved mascot started in 1980. This was also when Jollibee Chickenjoy was launched. What started as a Magnolia Ice Cream parlor became the 1st Jollibee outlet and the rest is history. Jollibee is now considered as the market leader in the fast food industry. It captured the heart of the “masa”.

The Jollibee mascot has a great big effect on kids. They really think that he’s their friend! When Kelsea first saw Ronald and the Gang, she was so afraid and cried so much. With Jollibee, she was also afraid at first but not the same as her reaction with Ronald. Now, Kelsea loves touching Jollibee in every branch we see and loves watching Jollitown in YouTube.

Kelsea and Jollibee

Those big eyes and smiling face touches the hearts of the little ones. I think the main reason why kids love Jollibee is because Jollibee’s program reaches out to kids. They have the Jolly Kiddie Meal, Jollibee Kids Club and lots more! The Jollibee theme song even makes kids dance and jump for joy. Added entertainment is also when they see Jollibee dance to popular tunes during birthday parties. Jollibee chains are usually full and take note that almost all tables has one kid eating either a Chickenjoy or a Jolly Spaghetti. No other fast food chains can level up to Jollibee’s success.

I can’t help it but to feel young whenever we eat in Jollibee. Maybe because we’re with Kelsea or because of the kiddie ambiance. I’m not a fan of their burgers and spaghetti (I love McDo for these) but what I enjoy eating in Jollibee are the Jolly Hotdog and Tuna Pie. I’m also beginning to like Chickenjoy because it really improved.

Now that Kelsea’s 3rd birthday in coming up a few months, she keeps on mentioning that she’ll be having a Jollibee party. Uh-oh! Hubby and I were not planning that since we decided to give big kiddie parties only on her 1st and 7th birthdays. But i’m afraid we might just give in to our little girl’s request. Let’s see 🙂
