Tony & Jackey’s Hair Blessing Rebond

October 29, 2012 By: Erlaine7 Comments

I have a wavy hair. But as years passed by, those wavy strands became curls…unmanageable curls! So, one of my “me time” is to have my hair rebonded. I have tried hair rebonding from two salons and one home service which I blogged about here.

It’s the time of the year for a hair rebond and I’m tired of hubby making fun of my “kinky” curls daw lol! On the first week of October, I stumbled upon a great deal from Metrodeal. It was a Hair Blessing Rebond or Digital/Setting Perm and Haircut at Tony & Jackey only for Php 2,999 instead of Php 8,500. That’s Php 5,501 savings! Ain’t that great? I didn’t think twice and bought a voucher since one of my high school kabarkada is having her hair rebond in this salon too.

The next step is to choose which branch to avail these services. I’m from Cavite where they have branches in SM Dasmarinas and SM Bacoor but I chose their branch in Festival Mall since I’m more familiar with it. It was required to make a reservation in your chosen branch. So I made an appointment two weeks ago.

Tony & Jackey’s Festival Mall

An hour before my 1 pm appointment, I received a text message from one of their staff reminding me of my scheduled services. Hubby and Kels dropped me off an hour earlier so I can still have my lunch. When I went to the salon, I was given a warm welcome by the receptionist and checked my printed voucher. Another staff then offered me to put my bag in a locker and the key was given to me. I decided not to include my cellphone and wallet just to be sure.

The salon is very spacious. It has a reception area, waiting area, a bar (I didn’t see much what’s in there) and clean restrooms.

Lots of salon chairs for clients

A senior staff named Marj assisted me. She washed my hair first then led me to my chair facing a wide mirror which also serves as a TV screen showing a Korean video about hair. I didn’t understand it so I asked for it to be turned off. She then gave me magazines to keep me busy. I was assigned to a hairstylist named Carl. All their hairstylists are Korean which they boasts of having a minimum of 7 yrs of experience.  I think he doesn’t speak English very well because Marj acted as a translator.

Carl assessed my hair to check my hair type and condition. He then told me (thru Marj) that a treatment called Herba Manicure (not for our nails) is needed so that rebonded hair will not turn out dry. It’s an additional service which needs additional payment. Uh-oh! I only bought Php 600 in cash. The treatment will cost between Php 1,500-2,000. I brought my credit card but they do not accept credit card. This is unusual for an establishment not having a credit card facility. I asked the staff why and told me the Korean owner prefers cash.

I decided to have a treatment next time. Maybe three or four weeks after my rebond. It took about 4.5 hrs to finish my hair rebonding session. I just realized while waiting that most clients are having digital perming. It is actually the salon’s specialty. Maybe next time I’ll try it 🙂

Now here’s the before and after pic of my hair…

My hair before and after the hair rebonding

Do you like the after pic? I very much did! By the way, their Hair Blessing Rebond is not for virgin hair, meaning, it is for hair that have already experienced treatment. It uses a Korean hair product. I also learned that they do not offer hair cellophane as after-treatment for rebonded hair due to harmful chemicals. Instead, they use hair manicure.

Here a pic of me and Carl, the hairstylist (sorry the pic is a little blurred)…

Oh sorry to hear that 🙁 I think language can be somewhat a barrier since we communicate with the Filipino staff while they relay it to the Korean stylist.

Hi, how was the manicure treatment? Do it still look nice without the treatment?

hello there! I am looking at doing this rebonding. How is it different to the 1000p rebonding that other salons do? That is what I did last time and I was happy, but my hair was definitely dry and loads of hair fall. Would you say your hair is dry post this type of rebond, and did you experience extreme hair fall? I need to decide soon whether to do it as the deal expires tomorrow, I just cannot find out how it is different to the type I did before.
