Art Attack: Colorful Butterfly

April 27, 2012 By: Erlainecomment

Being a work-at-home mom makes me think of activities for my kiddo to keep herself busy. I bought her art materials for our art attack sessions. Lately, she’s fond of asking for paper and her kiddie scissors to practice her cutting skills. And guess what she wants to do with all those cut-outs? Stick them on top of each other and call it her “artwork”. The remaining little ones on the floor are already confettis 🙂

This is my first post on one of the many crafts and artworks of Kelsea (with the little help of yours truly). I, myself, love arts and crafts. But right now I don’t have much time for it. Oh, how I miss making scrapbooks! So for now, I’ll focus more on bringing out Kelsea’s creative side.

One of the art stuff I brought for her is a sketch pad. When she was younger, we use lots of bond papers for her paintings, doodles, etc. Now that she already have a sketch pad, I told her that it will be her book of arts. It will be some kind of her portfolio LOL!

I thought of making something colorful using the construction papers so I told her she can decorate her own butterfly! Since she doesn’t know yet how to cut paper following a pattern, I did the cutting myself. The cut-outs are not that perfect since I didn’t use any pattern.

I described to her what the cut-outs above are for and let her paste them using Elmer’s glue (I’m thinking if I should let her use paste with a small spatula instead). I’m glad she exactly knew where to put them.

Concentrating on her butterfly

I made her different cut-outs of shapes so she can decorate the butterfly’s wings whatever way she wants.

And last but not the least, to make her butterfly more fun for her, I gave her wiggly eyes for her to stick it on her colorful butterfly. And here’s Kelsea’s masterpiece….. tada!

More fun and “funny” artworks coming soon!
