Krispy Kreme in the South

September 12, 2011 By: Erlainecomment

Bye bye GoNuts and hello Krispy Kreme!

GoNuts Donuts already closed it’s store located at Westgate, Filinvest, Alabang. We were a bit sad because it was one of the take-out goodies we rely on for food sharing in parties/events. I think the only one left in Alabang area, is their stall in Shopwise in Festival Mall. While the other one still in the South is in SM Southmall. Are they already losing profit? Too bad they just introduced last year (I’m not sure) their ice cream which was the original Coney Island ice cream.

Now going back to Krispy Kreme, it has a newly opened branch in Festival Mall. It is exactly located opposite The Old Spaghetti House which is near Shopwise. I first tasted their Original Glazed doughnuts way back 2006 when my mom, sister and I we’re having a vacation in the US. It really melts in the mouth! (That’s compared to Dunkin Donuts and Mister Donut here in the Philippines). How I wished they’ll open a store in Manila. After a few years, they did but there were news in the US about it being affected by the recession.

Anyway, after attending mass in St. Jerome last night, we bought half-a-dozen doughnuts for takeout. When I entered the store with Kelsea, I initially noticed that this store is small. The dining area inside can only accommodate a maximum of 8 persons. There was only one coffee table with three cushioned sofa seats while the rest can seat in a bar-type stool and view the outside of the store. Majority of the tables and chairs are located outside. This is an advantage to the smokers who love doughnuts and coffee.

There were only a few available variants of their doughnuts that night. These are Original Glazed, Peanut Butter & Kreme, Caramel Kreme Crunch, Chocolate Iced Custard Filled, Powdered Strawberry Filled and Kelsea’s favorite, the Chocolate Iced with Sprinkles. Well, what she really liked are the sprinkles 🙂

Too bad, my favorites Chocolate Kreme Cake with Oreo, Hershey’s Special Dark Chocolate and Hershey’s Cookies and Kreme, were not available. Hopefully on our next visit! Original Glazed costs Php32 each while the rest is Php44 each.

I wanna try also their new products especially the Chocolate Chip Kruffin…

Another place to chill-out for the Southern peeps! They’re open ’till 11pm! 🙂
