Art Attack: Paper Clay Art

August 22, 2012 By: Erlaine8 Comments

Kelsea missed going to school during those days a few weeks ago when classes were suspended due to heavy rains and areas affected by the flood. So to keep her busy, it was art attack time! I bought her a Paper Clay art kit from National Bookstore for only Php100.

Paper Clay Art kit

I knew about this kit even before I was married because I did one myself. Mine was a butterfly and it’s still in my room in my parents’ house. Kelsea’s fish paper clay kit includes 4 colors of paper clay, 2 bamboo sticks and the fish template.

How to do it? Very simple. You just have to use the two bamboo sticks to get the paper clay and put it on the template. It’s quite tricky since you have to fill up the spaces by spreading the paper clay evenly to cover up the empty spaces. If the paper clay is a little dry from the container, you just have to put a few drops of water and mix it to be moist again.

The fish and the sticks

Since bamboo sticks were used, parents should supervise their kids to avoid accidents. I let Kelsea choose which color goes to which area and let her do the transferring by guiding her hands first then letting her do it on her own.

Here is her finished product….

Now, here’s a closer look of the surface…

After filling it up, you just have to let it dry so that the paper clay will settle permanently. Nice isn’t it? This can be displayed in your kid’s room. Paper Clay kits are made by JNBM Paper Clay Art.

Hi Erlaine! My daughter just started making one this evening. My Mom got her the kit to keep her preoccupied at home because she has chicekenpox. Pero yung design na nabili ng Mom ko medyo complicated so ibibili ko na lang siguro sya ng bago.

I love your blog by the way! 🙂
