Raising A Reader

March 24, 2012 By: Erlaine1 Comment

I love reading. I have book and magazine collections since I was a kid until now. That’s from Sweet Valley Kids to parenting books now. And as a book lover, I also want my daughter to be one. She has lots of books which I bought from Booksale and more books she inherited from her cousins Tintin and Jelo. One of my dreams is to have a library in our house which includes my books and magazines collection and Kelsea’s too.

As much as possible we read to her every time she wakes up and before she goes to sleep. Then throughout the day, she browses her books and looking like she’s really reading them. I love it when she invites me to read her books with her. Kelsea likes it very much when I read to her with feelings and emotions and little explanations so she can understand what the story is about.

She loves looking at pictures on books.

This is one of the books Mark and I read to her. It is about a kid who is not feeling well. Each page shows what the kid wants and needs since he is not feeling well.

One of the books of Tintin and Jelo.

Look closely on the text and pictures on this page of the book.

Then the other day while I was washing the dishes, I saw her flipping this book and somewhat reading. Watch this video of hers which I’m glad I was able to catch.

Kelsea remembered the lines from the book and seems like reading it 🙂 Can’t wait for the day when she’ll sit beside me and read to me her favorite bedtime story.

That was our dream too – to have a library! And I still think that an e-book can’t compare to reading the original paper version =)
